Adding these healthy, vitamin-enriched food choices to your daily diet can allow you to live a life with less pain and stiffness. Here are just a few food choices for you to consider in order to fight arthritis and other inflammatory diseases.

Foods Rich in Omega-3

Omega-3 fatty acids have been known to prevent inflammation while also alleviating the common symptoms associated with arthritis. Eating foods that are high in Omega-3’s several times a week can help you eliminate joint pain and allow you to be more active. These foods include various types of fish such as Salmon, Sardines, Trout and Mackerel as well as nuts, corn, flaxseeds and sunflower oil.

Vitamin D Enriched Foods

Individuals who consume foods that are high in Vitamin D have shown to have a decreased risk of developing osteoarthritis as well as a lower risk of developing rheumatoid arthritis. There are few foods that naturally contain high amount of Vitamin D, however dairy foods such as milk, cheese and yogurt are usually fortified with the helpful nutrient. Bread is another food option that may contain additional amounts of Vitamin D, and you can always consider taking a Vitamin D supplement especially if you have a deficiency.

The oil has natural inflammatory properties as well as omega-3 fatty acids which is a powerful antioxidant. In order to add more olive oil to your diet, you can use it to create a homemade salad dressing, drizzle it over baked potatoes before cooking or use it in a marinade for your favorite meats.

By making a few simple changes to your diet plan you can help to reduce the common symptoms associated with arthritis and enjoy living your life free of joint pain and stiffness.
