For 25 years Acorn Stairlifts has made lives of the people it serves better. We started as a family business and have become the leading global stairlift company. In addition to manufacturing stairlifts, we also enhance lives by building the communities we serve around the world. One recent project we helped with is the restoration of the Wensleydale Flyer of the Yorkshire Dales in the United Kingdom.
The renamed Acorn Wensleydale Flyer has almost become a standard part of the Dales community life mainly because it is the most convenient way to travel for public in rural areas. The bus travels for 40 miles for around 1 hour and 15 minutes along a scenic valley route on Sundays and Bank Holidays leading to quiet towns, hidden gems of inns and coffee shops and appealing landscapes.
However, the funding needed to keep the bus in operation was running low and the bus was in endanger of stopping operation by early December 2016. Residents decided to crowd-source to keep the bus in service.
An Acorn employee was informed of the Dale’s shortage of fund and brought it to the management. Being a company that constantly strive to give people greater independence and improved mobility, Acorn provided the resources needed. Today, as America’s leading stairlift company, Acorn uses its influence to give back by way of corporate partnerships and active participation of employees.
