Exercising has many great benefits such as lowering the risk of heart disease and stroke, lowers blood pressure and cholesterol, improves mood, contributes to weight loss and can even help control blood glucose levels for those with diabetes. Despite the benefits of working out, some people might find it more of a chore and not rewarding.
Most people consider walking a good place to start when wanting to exercise. Not only is it not as intense as other exercises, but it also burns calories and does not require any special equipment. Studies show that you should fit in 30 minutes of exercise daily (whether it’s consecutive or in increments) to help improve yourself and your health. Maybe set a goal of walking for 30 minutes a day and work at that goal every day until you reach it. Another great beginner exercise routine can be some light yoga. Yoga improves strength, flexibility and your mental focus.
The more you exercise, the more likely you are going to stick with it. If you don’t have time to go to a physical gym, or to sit down at home and do a home work out, try parking in a far parking spot when going out or take the stairs rather than the elevator.

1. Never mind what others are doing - just do your own thing! It can be anything from walks outdoors to group sports or exercises classes like Zumba or kickboxing.
2. Join a team - there are many baseball, soccer and basketball leagues that are open to many skill levels. This can help you keep you motivated while still having fun.
3. Exercise in nature - studies have shown that taking your exercises outside in nature can enhance your mood. This is also a good time to try out different actives outdoors like kayaking or golf.
4. Change up your routine - alternate your work outs on different days to keep your exercising fun.
5. Add some music - listening to your favorite music through your headphones while working out can make the time go by more quickly. Studies have shown that people work harder and enjoy their workouts when they include music.
6. Keep a log - track what you’re working out daily and write down your results. This can help you reach your goals and reward yourself.
7. Exercise with a friend - having a workout buddy can help you stay motivated and committed.
8. Consider a personal trainer - even though this option is more expensive than the others, a trainer can help you keep you on track and work towards your personal goals. They can also come up with different routines.
9. Try new things - you won’t know if you like a certain activity until you try! If you exercise outside, try hiking or swimming.
10. Have realistic expectations - remember that progress does not show overnight, make your goals realistic depending on what you want your end result to be.
11. Congratulate yourself - always remember to reward yourself for accomplishing your goals. Eating on a strict diet? Once you hit a milestone indulge in your favorite sweet.
