Installing Upper Charge Point

If not already installed, determine where the upper charge point will be attached. This is accomplished by running the stair lift carriage to the top of the staircase and stopping it at the point where the carriage footrest is level with the top step. The charge point should be positioned on the side of the rail so that it is in contact with the spring-loaded charging pins, fitted to the inside of the carriage chassis. (Fig.11)

Mark the position with a pencil or scribe. Also at this time, position and mark where the upper stopping limit ramp will be fixed to the top of the rail, so that the ‘finger’ of the ramp contacts and activates the top limit micro-switch that is fitted to the underside of the stair lift carriage assembly (the right-hand switch, when viewed down the rail). (Fig.12)

With optimum adjustment, the stair lift should park at the top of the stairs with the footrest adjacent to the top step, however, the footrest edge should not come into contact with the top stair nose. (Fig.13)

Drive the stair lift to the bottom of the staircase. Fix the upper stopping limit ramp to the top of the rail, using one of the self-tapping screws, provided in the kit. (Fig.14)
